Another fantastic Guardian review for Sally Garland!

We are so delighted to share this wonderful review from the Guardian, of Sally Anne Garland’s new picture book, The Moon Seed. ‘Quietly spectacular’ sums up Sally’s work perfectly.

On 31st January 1971, astronaut Stuart Roosa took a bag of seeds with him on the Apollo 14 mission to the moon. When he came home, he planted the seeds to see how they would thrive.
This is the story of one of those seeds: back on planet Earth, yearning for the moon again. It really is a  beautiful book, based on real events, that speaks about longing, growth and finding beauty and purpose in things close to home.

“Under the inky black sky, the tree swayed silently.

Its moonlit leaves grew flowers with winged seeds that blew away in the winds.

Oh, how the tree wished there was a wind that could carry it to the moon!

But the more it grew, the deeper its roots dug.
