Justin Ian Lee is an illustrator based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. After fifteen years in animation, he started his own illustration studio. His work blends animation fundamentals with the energy of graffiti, starting in sketchbooks and finishing digitally. Inspired by cartoons, comics, graffiti, jazz, vintage toys and baseball he aims to bring that same sense of fun, movement, character and controlled chaos into his work.
With experience in character design, storyboarding and directing, Justin studied both art and animation, graduating as valedictorian in both. He has shown work in galleries and live events, contributed to award-winning teams and his ever popular merchandise business has created projects for dozens of his dream clients including but not limited to Theo Von, Tom Segura and the Museum of Natural History.
Drawing has always been central to who Justin is – it helped him navigate challenges like divorced parents, moving often, bullying and ADHD. He now tries to support creative kids who feel out of place.
